What to do you get when you add lockdown + Halloween + Netflix? Your answer should be either The haunting of Bly manor or The haunting of Hill house depending on how far you’ve gotten into the series.
I’m not going to lie to you, I haven’t watched either of them nor do I plan to as yes I admit it with my hands up in the air, I am afraid! But I can tell you that both seasons are doing very well in the horror industry for Netflix.
First things first, whats the difference between the two series?
The haunting of Bly manor is the follow-up series to The Haunting of Hill House making it the second entry in The Haunting anthology series.
The creative team behind the series and much of the cast of Hill House have returned for Bly Manor, however the two series’ narratives are not connected.
Bly Manor premiered on Netflix on October 9, 2020. The series follows the narrative of a young governess hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care. Arriving at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises.
Hill house is a loose television adaptation of the 1959 gothic horror novel by American author Shirley Jackson.
The series adaption was released in 2018 with the narrative following a family and their children who move into Hill House to renovate the mansion in order to sell it and build their own house. However, due to unexpected repairs, they have to stay longer, and they begin to experience increasing paranormal phenomena, resulting in a tragic loss and the family fleeing from the house.
Twenty-six years later, the siblings and their estranged father reunite after tragedy strikes again, and they are forced to confront how their time in Hill House has affected each of them.
